We're already preparing our next build advice! It will focus the somewhat new fast hitter Rebellion class at PVM.

- Pre-Renewal - Assassin Cross PVP

  • Small brief:
Assassin Cross is probably the cheapest char around able to give tons of damage after a Champion. With just Soul Link from a Soul Linker, their damage can already reach the 5 digits, under right conditions, with a single skill called Sonic Blow. If this wasn't enough, Bragi reduces their animation delay making them being able to deal faster damage by chaining Sonic Blow after Sonic Blow until they get bored, the enemy dies or you die. As if that wasn't enough, they can always use Enchant Deadly Poison for a bigger boost that pretty much destroys anything around when they can't guess the element you're using and use proper reduces.
If Sonic Blow fails, they also have access to Grimtooth that is quite spammable with 1 agi and Sinx Song.
They also have access to some other skills like Poison Enchant, that is decent until someone gets their hands into a cheap Evil Druid that destroys your damage at 100%, but most of the time you're not touching them aside the "support yourself ones" like Cloak and Hide.
They're not easy to be played as people think because everybody can just equip a Katar, EDP and aim at a target but not kill and survive and know to hide well to strike again.

  • What you should aim to
Ignoring the gameplay of each own and if you should aim for a VIT or an AGI Assassin Cross, you should aim, always, for the highest atk possible without saying bye to reduces. This means that default a Giant Whisper or a Porcellio is wrong but using it occasionally to ensure kills is fine because sometimes you've to try and get a win to help the team or yourself. You should aim to master the "SB and Swap" which translates into use a Sonic Blow and, right after it, swap, at least, to a defensive knife and a shield to be able to survive surprise attacks because Sonic Blows are made to one-shot and if you can't do it after 1 or 2, consider yourself dead if you don't swap since the enemy will strike back. Due to that, it's wise to do it and go back to re-think about what is failing before you're dropping in the floor.
  • Build advice
There are only two main ways to play an Assassin Cross:
    • AGI
      • The ones that go 9x STR, 7x or higher DEX and the rest goes into AGI to get a quite good spam of Grimtooth without the need of external buffs.
      • The ones that choose going this way are the ones that just want to have fun with a char that is able to destroy everything because the only things that you need is EDP, Link from a Soul Linker, -100% Stun gear, anti-frozen armour and a good damage Katar.
      • Stun gear may look hard to get but there are a couple of ways to get it, some better than others but do the same in the end. The usual and most of the time cheap, it's the Valkyrie Armour plus +5 Dark Bacilium with Stalactic Golem Card. Since the Valkyrie Armour gives 50% resistance to Stun and the Stalactic Golem Card gives 20%, we just need 30% that is achievable with the Dark Bacilium refined to +5.
      • This build is far inferior to a VIT build in terms of raw damage since it doesn't let you use a different armour or Upper Headgear but, due to going high AGI and low VIT, you're aiming to survive and win a lot vs other Assassin Crosses, Creators, Gypsy, Clowns and High Wizards.
      • Due to the nature of this build, you can also mix and match some FLEE gears to help you win vs some other Assassin Crosses since they will miss against you.
    • VIT
      • The ones that go 9x STR, 80+ VIT and the rest into DEX to get always a one-hit K.O. Sonic Blow no matter what the enemy defaults.
      • The ones that choose going this way are the ones that don't fear AD or know to play with the map in their favour. They know how to watch and identify the weak spots, they know what to swap and what not to move around without problems, they're the ones that usually already know how to play the char for years and don't fear anything. Usually this also means that the player has access to a Ghostring Card but not always!
      • Usually those builds aren't cheap and end being quite expensive. They ask for items that you usually can't really solo or use dual accounts to make it like Large Baphomet Horns.
      • This build is far superior to an AGI build in terms of raw damage since you can swap anything you want to boost you damage making it possible to achieve something high as 150 total STR depending on what is available in the server you play and also superior in terms of reduces since you can also swap the headgear for a defensive Feather Beret but if you play in a space where AD is fairly easy to get and to use, you will probably have a bad time unless you've access to Ghostring and/or Deviling and other, considered rare, gear like Combat Knife to mitigate the damage to junk. Nevertheless, this build aims to kill everything around with, maybe, the exception of professors but that also depends on what you've available as gears due to their tanky nature with full reduces and energy coat.
  • Gear Advice
By this time, you already should have a small view of what you should get but if that's not enough, here is some advice.
    • Weapon
      • Glorious Bloody Roar +9/+10
        • Being hard to make or not, this is the best weapon around only surpassed by stuff with MVP cards that are, most of the time, situational instead of all around. The reason for that is easy, it's because of that amazing Slaughter Bonus that makes your damage jump to crazy levels when they "met" EDP.
        • This is, hands down, the best weapon to get without having to worry with stuff like the enemy having high DEF or not and the time needed to spend hunting MVPs instead of having fun at BG.
      • Infiltrator
        • You may think "what?! You're drunk, kid, go home" but actually I'm not by putting this as the second choice and the reason is actually quite simple - DEF.
        • Most of the time, smart players play PVP with +0 gear or BG gear and that means low DEF. Seeing that they have low DEF, the number reduced by DEF ignoring gear is pretty much nothing substantial making this be the best to use before the Glorious Bloody Roar and not the following one.
      • Brave Carnage Katar
        • If where you play there are a ton of people with high DEF, this can end being quite good vs them and even more if there is Bone Plate[1] available for extra DEF reduction. Still, this weapon is quite good to have seeing how easy it's to get and if you can't get something better, it's the way to go.
        • Occasionally, this can be always to have to use when needed since Infiltrator is best used vs enemies with 50 or less DEF and this one vs enemies with 50+ DEF.
        • There is also the reason of it not breaking but that's another story and only though about when you're using an Infiltrator too and don't have FCP.
      • Specialty Jur[4]/Wind Katar[3]/Earth Katar[3]/Fire Katar[3]
        • They're not the best and are actually quite bad compared to previous options but, if there is no other choice, use them for pure raw damage. Sometimes, the elemental ones can turn being quite good if you know when to use like the Wind Katar vs Frozen Enemies and the Fire Katar vs stoned ones.
        • Sometimes, having them can also be good. When your hit sucks, you can always use one of them with +HIT cards like Mummy or Howard if you can't use a Cursed Hand with Galion or if that isn't enough but if you're aiming for +HIT gears, I advice you to get a Drill Katar[1].
    • Other Gear
      • There really isn't any other gear advice to give because it's pretty much the same that everybody uses vs every situation use with the exception that you focus more on ATK and when that's not possible, focus on STR without ignoring reduces and survivability but I will still try to give some.
        • If you can't get an amazing Combat Knife to use with Thara/Horn shields, grab a:
          • Assassin Dagger[1] with Golem so that it doesn't break or get a fabre for more HP.
          • Knife[4] with Fabre Cards. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing!
        • Use more than one shield with a thara/horn.
          • Valkyrie's Shield isn't the only good shield around, Bradium Shield, for the +500 HP, is also a good option vs damage that can't be reduced by the Valkyrie one.
        • Large Baphomet Horns aren't ideal and the best upper headgear to use.
          • This is true only if you're trying to aim 150 STR since you need a lot of STR and 10% from Alice Doll plus a slot and +1 STR will end being better since you will get an higher ATK bonus from the 150 STR than what the Large Baphomet Horns give plus the 2% extra damage.
        • Diabolous Armour +3 STR isn't the only good armour around for a VIT build
          • We all know that +5 STR is amazing but there are more that sometimes people forget.
            • Bone Plate[1] gives you 10% DEF ignore and that's just amazing vs high DEF/VIT chars
            • Glorious Set isn't bad either if you're trying to survive more than the usual.
            • Flavious Set gives you +5% ASPD, it may help if you need ASPD to use Grimtooth.
        • If you can't grab a +9 Superior Footgear and you need the extra STR for the next ATK bonus
          • If it's available, use an Heavy Metaling card instead. It's not perfect but works until you can get one and this should be cheaper than a Firelock because the card, in it's whole, it's quite junky.
        • Bradium Ring and Diabolus Ring+Diabolus Armour are your best "weapons" for damage after the weapon being chosen.
          • +3% extra damage from the Diabolous Set, extra STR and 2% damage from the Bradium Ring and still 2 slots free. What can you ask more?
  • Some other useful advice
    • Don't stick too much with just one element, try to change to another after a while. Some people don't even use one twice just to screw their enemies.
    • Having 2 of the same Katars to swap fast to Neutral is actually a wise move.
  • Funny Facts
    • If you've an ASPD high enough, 2 Ring of Flame Lord with EDP on end into being deadly. The spam of skills pushed with the EDP will do crap damage but when you see Bowling Bashes coming out, say hi to kills.
      • Don't forget to use Sword Master Cards to see higher damage with this funny setup! This also means that you've to use different weapons from the typical Katars like the - RED - Twin Edge of Naght Sieger.

Some useful links were also added

Added some useful links that we saw that may help people improving their gameplay. While we don't help people with builds directly, we give advice and it may be good to test them theoretically at some calculators to later try them in the battlefield.
If someone thinks that a link should be there, post it and give us a reason. If we see it worth to have it listed, we will add it.

We have also our first guide about a class near done. We will make it about the PVP Assassin Cross.

Some generic tips added

Some generic advice to players were added to the top of the website. There is no point trying to help people to be the best when they don't have knowledge about some basic and generic tips. If you think that something should be added or to be corrected, feel free to point it!
